VeriMile privacy notice

Last updated July 25, 2026. Applies to the VeriMile apps for iPhone, iPad and Android.

VeriMile is a mileage log. The whole point of the product is that the log belongs to you, so the short version is this: your trips, locations and reports stay on your device. We collect a small amount of anonymous usage information about how the app is used, and nothing about where you drove.

What never leaves your device

• GPS locations and routes recorded while a trip is running
• Start and end points, and any addresses
• Trip names, purposes, dates and times
• Your mileage log, and every PDF or CSV report you generate

Reports are generated on the device and shared only through the sharing sheet you choose, for example to email, Files, or your accountant's app. VeriMile never sends a report anywhere on its own.

Sync and backups

On iPhone and iPad, VeriMile can sync your log through your own private iCloud database so it appears on your other Apple devices. That data lives in your Apple account under Apple's terms and is not accessible to us. If iCloud is unavailable, the app simply keeps the log locally. Android stores the log locally on the device and it is included in your device's normal backups if you have those enabled.

There is no VeriMile account, no sign-up, no email address and no password, because the app never needs one.

Anonymous usage analytics

To understand whether features work and where the app fails, VeriMile sends a small event to our own server at verimile.vertolini.com when certain things happen. Each event contains:

• A randomly generated device identifier created on first launch. It is not your device's advertising ID or serial number and it is not tied to your name, email or any account. Deleting the app removes it, so a fresh install starts a new one, although on Android a restored device backup can carry the previous identifier over.
• The platform, iOS or Android.
• The event name and category, for example app.launch, trip.start, trip.stop, report.pdf, report.csv, upgrade.prompt_shown, upgrade.purchased, or error.client.
• A few numbers attached to some events: the distance and duration of a finished trip, the number of trips included in a report, the product identifier of a purchase, and an error type and message when something goes wrong.
• The IP address and user agent that accompany the request, which our web server records with each event as any web server does, plus the time the event arrived.

That is the complete list. No coordinates, no addresses, no trip names, no report contents, and no contact information are ever sent. Analytics are sent on a best-effort basis and are discarded silently if the request fails, so the app works the same offline.

What we do not do

• No advertising, no ad networks, and no advertising identifiers.
• No third-party analytics, attribution or tracking software development kits.
• No selling, renting or sharing of data with data brokers or anyone else.
• No cross-app or cross-site tracking, and no profile building.
• No email marketing, because we do not collect email addresses.

Location permission

VeriMile asks for location access the first time you start a trip. It uses location only between the moment you tap Start and the moment you tap Stop, in order to measure distance. It does not monitor your location between trips. On iPhone the trip continues to record while the app is in the background or your screen is locked, and a Live Activity shows that recording is in progress. On Android the trip runs in a foreground service with a persistent notification, so it is always visible when tracking is active. Denying or revoking location access disables GPS tracking, and you can still add trips by hand.

Purchases

VeriMile Pro and the single-year export unlock are sold through the App Store and Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google, and we never see your payment details. The app checks your entitlement through the store's own purchase records on your device. We record only that a purchase of a given product identifier occurred, as one of the anonymous events above. On the App Store, Pro is an auto-renewing yearly subscription managed in your Apple subscription settings. On Google Play, Pro is a one-time purchase that the app treats as 365 days of access and does not auto-renew.

Children

VeriMile is a business and personal record-keeping tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices and your rights

Because your mileage data never reaches us, you already control it: delete a trip in the app, empty the trash, or delete the app to remove the log from the device. To have the anonymous usage events associated with a device identifier deleted from our server, or to ask any privacy question at all, contact us and we will handle it.

Changes

If this notice changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes to what we collect will also be described in the app's release notes.
